Wishing safe travels to everyone hitting the road this holiday or just napping in the hammocks! I’m thankful for the chance to visit family, even if it means long drives and crowded highways. Do you find gratitude in the journey itself, or is it all about the destination for you?

My mother, knowing I was a vegetarian (by choice, not a "religion"), once sent me a Thanksgiving Day card. The cover showed a turkey up on a soapbox. When you open the card, the turkey is telling the assembled crowd, "This Thanksgiving, remember, You Are What You Eat."

I try to be thankful every meal, and one pet peeve is, somehow - maybe it's just the times we live in - people at the table seem to bring up some health issue or global atrocity. I figure the meal time event is an opportunity to come together and for that short period, put such events aside and recognize being with friends, under a roof, with abundance on the table. Leave all "Schrödinger's Cat is dead" issues aside at mealtime.

Hello @cougarmeat! That card sounds hilarious! Well, turkeys do have a point! You’re right, mealtimes have historically been seen as a social ritual to strengthen bonds, not debate heavy issues. Do you think having a “no heavy topics” rule at the table would make gatherings more enjoyable?
