I'm really interested to know what got you into hammock camping. How's your back, hips, and overall comfort been since you made the change?

I'd also love to hear about your current setup. What gear are you using, and are there any modifications or upgrades you're considering? It's always great to exchange new ideas with fellow hammock enthusiasts!

I've recently started hammock camping primarily for the back relief, it's so much better than sleeping on the ground. Ever since I made the switch, my hips and back feel fantastic. I'm currently using an 11' netless hammock with whoopie slings, a 20° underquilt, and a Dyneema tarp. I'm considering adding a gear sling next. What's your favorite setup? Have you made any modifications that had a significant impact?

On a kayak excursion with a Seattle group, we stayed on an island with very little flat ground. One paddler used a Hennessy Hammock. I was amazed that someone could spend the night in one because before that, my only experience was using a "mini-bridge" hammock from the Dollar Store for short rests.

I bought a Hennessy when REI had one of their 20% off sales and set it up on the next camping trip. I also set up a tent - just in case. I wasn't completely comfortable the first night; I have since learned that the "first" on anything can be a bit disconcerting. But the second night, though I planned to sleep in the tent, I found myself walking past the tent and into the hammock again.

In the last ten (plus) years, I've only used a tent about three times. With all the other adventures, I enjoyed the comfort of a hammock. I've moved on from Hennessy to other brands, but kept the Expedition for nostalgia.

I got into hammock camping after one too many sleepless nights on rocky ground with a half deflated sleeping pad, decided to give it a shot during a solo trip and haven't looked back since, my back and hips have actually felt better in a hammock, way less pressure points and no waking up stiff like I used to only upgrade I've been considering is a better ridgeline organizer or maybe switching to beetle buckles for faster setup, I use a warbonnet blackbird

I got into hammock camping out of pure curiosity and a desire to be off the cold, uneven ground. My back has been infinitely better; it's just a different kind of 'support' that cradles you perfectly when you get the sag right
