Share your first hammock mistakes!

How's everyone? I remembered something and thought I'd share it. When I first switched from tenting to hammocks, I didn’t realize how different insulation works.

Looking back, I laugh at how clueless I was! Forgot my pad once and felt like I was sleeping on a deflated waterbed. Hammocks taught me fast about insulation and smart packing. What lessons did you learn the hard way?

Kayak camping in Florida w/ my new "not so outdoorsy" partner. We'd gone almost straight from the plane to Mom's camp trailer and headed north.
I'd ordered a hammock bundle that included everything I needed and a couple quilts and had it sent to Florida direct. Having spent months in a Mayan style hammock several winters in a row I knew that two could sleep in the same hammock, and it would save us money.
After a night spent mashed together at the bottom of a slippery nylon camping hammock I ordered another hammock bundle and quilts. These things were nothing like the hammocks I was used to.
Fortunately five years later she still hammock camps w/ me, when it's easy. I on the other hand hammock unless it's almost impossible.
