Personal campground upgrade

Put together a covered stand for my hammock at a little private campground I've been working on with a couple of buddies. It lets me hang my 11ft Chameleon diagonally and not have to mess with straps or a tarp when we arrive late at night. The stand sits on blocks instead of poured footings since wind isn't an issue in the valley. We've already used it for a few weekend hammock camping trips and it's been solid so far. Have you added sidewalls or screens to yours for bug protection?

That's a sweet setup! A permanent stand is a game-changer for a regular spot like that!
I've seen some guys add bug netting to their permanent stands.
They usually just run a continuous line or a couple of loops around the frame and drape some lightweight screen mesh over it, then use a few clips or toggles to secure it at the bottom.
It's not a complete seal, but they say it makes a big difference.
Another option is a simple screen room that's already made.
You can get a cheap one and just set it up around the stand when you need it.
It keeps the mosquitoes and flies off you and gives you a nice little bug-free zone to hang out in.

That sounds really cool! I built a covered stand like that behind my cabin in the Ozarks. I used blocks too since it's in a quiet spot with no strong wind. I didn't put up full walls, but I did hang mesh panels with magnets to keep bugs out. They're easy to take down when I don't need them. Have you thought about using shade cloth or roll-up screens? They let air in and keep bugs out.

I'll test a mesh screen setup next week once I finish leveling the stand and clearing the sand pockets. Should I consider UV-rated cloth if I go that route?
