Hi! How's everyone doing?

So over the weekend I tried sewing my own hammock straps, and while they held up, I’m not sure they’re as durable as store-bought ones. Has anyone here made their own suspension systems or bug nets? I’d love to see your projects and hear how they’ve held up in the wild! Show us your creations!

If I can find some photos, I'll post them. Often the first Hammock DIY project is to start working with Amsteel to make your own loops, dogbones, ridgelines, soft shackles, whoopie slings, and UCR cords, etc. There are three main sizes of Amsteel; 7/64 inch, 2.5mm, and 1.75mm. The 7/64 is used for suspension projects and the smaller stuff - often with the brand LashIt and ZingIt - is used for ridgelines and guylines.

The tools you'll need are a sharp knife to cut the Amsteel, a ruler to mark the desired lengths, and some kind of of needle and "puller" to upon the Amsteel braid and pull one end inside another. Those last two tools can be found at sewing/knitting supply outlets.
