I'm thinking about picking up an Eddie Bauer rain jacket, but first, a quick question for the group. Has anyone ever used Scotchgard Outdoor Water Shield on one?
I've heard mixed things. The guy at the store said it's good, but when I tried a little test spray on an old one, it seemed to just soak right in. I'm a little worried that's a bad sign.

Has anyone had success with this combo?
Any other specific spray on or wash in products you'd recommend for this jacket that has lost its waterproofing?

It doesn't always bond well with certain shell fabrics. Nikwax TX.Direct (the wash in or spray on is better. It restores the DWR way more consistently on stuff like Eddie Bauer shells

I've used Scotchgard on nylon gear and it can be hit or miss. If it soaked in instantly, that's likely a bad sign, it usually means the fabric itself is super dry. I'd lean towards a wash in treatment first!

using Scotchgard to waterproof a jacket? I don't think it would work. Neither will any other spray on treatment
