Loosening Marlin Spike hitch on hammock straps

I recently switched to using Marlin Spike hitches with my new hammock straps from DutchWare. Setup is super quick, but I'm having a hard time loosening the knot after a night's hang, it tightens up so much that I have to wrestle with it to get it free.Is this normal with this kind of hitch, or am I doing something wrong? I'm using aluminum toggles and trying not to overtighten, but maybe there's a trick I'm missing. Appreciate any tips!

thechilllife23, What's wrong with this picture You are removing the toggle before you untie the knot, right? Because when you remove the toggle, the knot collapses. It becomes a non-knot.

I'm afraid @cougarmeat is right. you absolutely have to remove the toggle first.
the beauty of the Marlin Spike is that the moment you pull that toggle out, the knot completely collapses, and it should just fall free
if you're trying to untie it with the toggle still in, you're fighting the very thing that makes the knot work
